At Fairmount Family Dentist, our goal is to make every visit feel personal and meaningful. Meet your dentist
Get to know Dr. David Shock
Dr. David Shock didn’t start his professional journey in dentistry — in fact, he began on a farm in Greenfield, Indiana, and later earned his BS in Kinesiology with a focus on Athletic Training from Indiana University. After working in that field, he felt called to a new kind of care. At age 29, he returned to school and entered dental school in 2004. Following graduation, Dr. Shock completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency in Florida to gain confidence and experience in implant surgical procedures, TMJ treatment, and root canals.
Since then, Dr. Shock has dedicated over 17 years to dentistry and is an active member of both the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). His passion for helping people is at the core of what he does — whether it’s relieving pain, restoring a worn-down smile, or helping someone understand how their oral health impacts their overall well-being.
After early experiences in corporate dentistry and opening his own start-from-scratch practice in Noblesville, Dr. Shock found his home in Fairmount, Indiana. By purchasing an existing practice, he stepped into a community where dentistry could feel personal again. He’s never looked back.
Dr. Shock takes pride in offering cutting-edge care in a setting that feels familiar and comfortable to his patients. From implant dentistry and root canals to restorative crowns and dentures, he provides a wide range of services right here in Fairmount — so his patients can avoid unnecessary travel and feel confident getting care close to home.
Beyond the office, Dr. Shock enjoys reading, training for triathlons, traveling, and being a dad. His daughter Sophia is an equestrian and learning to drive, while his son Jonathon plays lacrosse. Family is important to him — and that same sense of connection runs through his dental practice.

Fairmount Family Dentist is proud to support the surrounding community through partnerships and outreach. We’ve given to Helping Hands and regularly sponsor local events, including the summer concert series at Fairmount Park and the iconic James Dean Weekend. We also sponsor the athletic departments at Mississinewa and Madison Grant High Schools. It’s part of giving back to the families and neighborhoods we’re lucky to serve every day.
